On May 31st 1916 the largest surface fleet engagement of the Great War occurred.   The German and United Kingdom fleets met in a prolonged and bloody engagement off the coast of Denmark.  A significant and detailed Centenary Initiative with databases, maps,  photographs, animations, and digitized primary sources charts this clash and brings into detail the human side of this epic battle.

Digitized today on the 100th anniversary of  the Battle of Jutland is a small piece of trench art, created from a bit of the remains of the British flagship and in memory of this battle:

Trench art, folder constructed “from the teak of H.M.S. Iron Duke Admiral Jellicoe’s Flag Ship Jutland 1916”
